The Quick Version
If you only want the headlines:
- Series finales worth your time: Hacks (May 28, HBO Max), The Boys (May 20, Prime Video), Good Omens (May 13, Prime Video), The Late Show With Stephen Colbert (May 21, CBS).
- Big season finales with confirmed returns: Grey's Anatomy, 9-1-1, NCIS, Tracker, Fire Country, Ghosts, Abbott Elementary, the One Chicago franchise.
- Goodbye for now (possibly final season): Euphoria Season 3 wraps May 31 on HBO. The "final" status hasn't been officially confirmed, but the production hints suggest it.
- June is light on finales, heavy on premieres: House of the Dragon, The Bear (its final season), Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2.
Now the deep cut.
ABC
ABC moves first and finishes by mid-May. Thursday, May 7 is the marquee night. Three of the network's biggest dramas all wrap the same evening.
The Rookie (May 4) — John Nolan's eighth season ends, and Nathan Fillion is already locked in for Season 9.
Will Trent (May 5) — The Atlanta-set procedural based on Karin Slaughter's novels wraps Season 4. Renewed for Season 5.
9-1-1 (May 7) — Season 9 finale. The first-responder mothership is renewed and not going anywhere. If you've been parking on Buck for the binge, this is the night to clear your block.
9-1-1: Nashville (May 7) — The spinoff wraps its first season at 9 p.m., right after the mothership. Renewal news pending, but the ratings have held.
Grey's Anatomy (May 7) — Season 22 wraps at 10. Renewed for Season 23. Yes, it's still on.
American Idol (May 11) — The Carrie Underwood and Lionel Richie era continues. Renewed.
Celebrity Jeopardy! (May 15) — Renewed for Season 5.
CBS
CBS kept its lineup off-air during the Winter Olympics earlier this year, which is why CBS shows are running deep into late May while NBC and ABC are already done. Lots happening here, including three series finales and the end of one of the longest late-night runs in TV history.
Watson (May 3) — Series finale. Morris Chestnut's Sherlock spinoff didn't get renewed. One full season and out.
NCIS: Origins (May 5) — The young-Gibbs prequel renewed for Season 3.
The Neighborhood (May 11) — Series finale after eight seasons. Cedric the Entertainer and Max Greenfield say goodbye.
DMV (May 11) — Series finale after one season. Canceled.
NCIS (May 12) — Season 23 ends. Renewed for Season 24. The mothership keeps moving.
NCIS: Sydney (May 12) — Season 3 finale, two episodes, special time slot. Renewed for Season 4.

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert (May 21) — Series finale. Colbert's CBS run ends after a decade.

Sheriff Country (May 22) — Season 1 ends. Renewal status pending.
Fire Country (May 22) — Season 4 finale. Renewed for Season 5.
Boston Blue (May 22) — The Blue Bloods spinoff wraps Season 1. Renewed for Season 2.
Marshals (May 24) — Taylor Sheridan's latest. Renewed for Season 2.
Tracker (May 24) — Justin Hartley's reward-tracker drama wraps Season 3. Renewed for Season 4.
Hollywood Squares (May 27, special time) — Renewal status pending.
NBC
NBC's big night is Wednesday, May 13. All three Chicago shows back-to-back.
The Hunting Party (May 7) — Season 2 ends with the team chasing convicted poisoner "Xander Wax." Status pending.
Chicago Med (May 13) — Season 11 finale at 8. Renewed.
Chicago Fire (May 13) — Season 14 at 9. Renewed.
Chicago P.D. (May 13) — Season 13 at 10. Renewed. One franchise, three hours, one Wednesday.
Law & Order (May 14) — Season 25 wraps. Renewed.
Law & Order: SVU (May 14) — Season 27 ends. Renewed. Mariska Hargitay is the longest-running female primetime drama character in TV history at this point, and the show is still ticking.
Saturday Night Live (May 16) — Season 51 closes with Will Ferrell hosting and Paul McCartney as musical guest. Renewed for Season 52.
Fox
Fox front-loaded most of its finales back in April. May has three.
Family Guy (May 17) — Renewed through Season 27 in 2028-29.
Bob's Burgers (May 17) — Renewed through Season 19 in 2028-29.
Next Level Chef (May 21) — Renewed.
Cable
Cable thins out in late spring, but a handful of shows are wrapping in our window.
The Audacity (AMC and AMC+, May 31) — Billy Magnussen's Silicon Valley dark comedy wraps Season 1. Renewed for Season 2 before the show even premiered, which is a vote of confidence you don't see often. Created by a Succession and Better Call Saul alum.
Half Man (HBO Max, late May) — Richard Gadd's Baby Reindeer follow-up is a six-episode limited series. Limited means limited. No second season coming.
Euphoria (HBO and HBO Max, May 31) — Season 3 wraps after a four-year wait between seasons. Zendaya has hinted this could be the final run, though HBO hasn't said it on the record. Worth treating as a possible series finale either way.
Streaming
This is the dramatic chunk. Three of the biggest streaming series of the year are saying goodbye in this window, and all three are series finales.
Good Omens (Prime Video, May 13) — Series finale. Originally planned as a full third season, the show was restructured into a single 90-minute episode after creator Neil Gaiman exited the production. Michael Sheen and David Tennant return one last time for Aziraphale and Crowley's send-off.
The Boys (Prime Video, May 20) — Series finale. Season 5 wraps the Homelander-vs-Butcher saga that started in 2019. Hand it to Eric Kripke. He said it would end at five, and it ends at five. Spinoffs are continuing in the universe.
Hacks (HBO Max, May 28) — Series finale. Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder's Vegas comedy ends after five seasons and four straight Emmys for Smart. The final stretch sends Deborah and Ava back to Las Vegas after false reports of Deborah's death. If you watch one finale in this window, watch this.

What About June?
Here's the honest answer: June is mostly a premiere month, not a finale month. The broadcast networks are dark. Cable thins out. The big shows are starting their summer runs, not ending them.
A few notable June premieres for the binge crowd to circle:
- House of the Dragon Season 3 (HBO, June 21)
- The Bear Season 5, the final season (FX and Hulu, June 25)
- Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 (Netflix, June 25)
- Camp Snoopy Season 2 (Apple TV+, June 26)
If you've been hoarding House of the Dragon Season 2 for a binge, you've got about a month to clear the deck. Same with The Bear if you want to be fully caught up before the swan song drops.
So What Should You Actually Watch First?
If you're staring down 60-plus finales and want a starting point, here's the move: series finales first. The Boys, Hacks, Good Omens, and Colbert won't be coming back. Catch up on the ongoing stuff after.
Now get back to your couch.
